Water Conservation
6/13/2013
Daily water usage is drastically increasing with the rise in temperature. Here are some recommendations on steps you can take to reduce water usage in order to continue the effort to conserve:
1) Ensure only minimal watering takes place and ONLY when it is REALLY necessary. Limit watering to early morning hours or late evening hours in order to reduce evaporation.
2) Water leaks or running toilets should be reported immediately to reduce water waste.
3) Do not allow hoses to run when not washing vehicles, to include on wash racks for military equipment. Consider utilizing car wash facilities that recycle wash water.
4) Remember that indoor water usage counts as well – turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving; limit the amount of time you spend in the shower; wash full loads of laundry or select the appropriate water level/load size setting on the washing machine; fill up the sink instead of letting the water run while doing dishes; and if you use the dishwasher ensure that it’s full!
